Wellingborough Norse staff work through the night

April 2018

A team of nine Wellingborough Norse staff worked through the night to clear litter from the A45 during the week of 19th to 23rd March 2018.

The hard working staff were on site from 8pm through to 4 in the morning, collecting 3.4 tonnes of waste during the 8 nights.

“Some items of waste had been dropped accidentally,” explained Wellingborough Norse’s Environmental Warden, Stephen Dunckley, “for instance items that had fallen from the bodywork of cars.  Some, however, was clearly the result of deliberate littering, such as takeaway boxes, bottles and cans.

“The most unusual items were baby chairs, a tv and a sofa.  These items have either been deliberately flytipped or have fallen from insecure loads on open backed vehicles.  Whilst it is regrettable that people should behave in such an irresponsible way with their rubbish, I am very proud of the efforts of our street cleansing staff who worked throughout the night so that minimal disruption was caused to Wellingborough’s road users.”
